Top Ten of the Decade!

It is time to say goodbye not only to 2009, but also to the last decade. Over the past ten years a lot has happened. Here in the United States we have been through both tragedy and victory. So much has happened that will never be forgotten. Here we have listed what the EFS Films team feels were the biggest and most unforgettable events of the last decade. Click on the event to read the Wikipedia or news article.

1. The terrorist attacks on New York City and Washington D.C. and other terrorist attacks result in two major wars. September 11, 2001.

2. Major earthquake in the Indian Ocean causes tsunami's in Southeast Asia. December 26, 2004.

3. Category 5 hurricane named "Katrina" devastates New Orleans and the Gulf Coast. August 23-30, 2005.

4. Financial crisis begins in 2007 and leaves its mark on the international economy. Fall of 2007.

5. The internet revolution begins! Facebook, MySpace, and YouTube become international hits.

6. Barack Obama becomes the 44th US Presdent and the first African American President. January 20, 2009.

7. Captain Chesley Sullenberger of US Airways lands his damaged A320 in the Hudson River. January 15, 2009.

8. CBS' show "NCIS" becomes the #1 show in America with more than 21,000,000 viewers. This was just important to me personally :)

9. The H1N1 virus, aka Swine Flu, infects people in Mexico and an international pandemic begins.

10. And of course, Tiger Woods gets chased from his home by an irate wife with a 9 iron, it doesn't turn out well for him.

And of course since we are a Flight Simulator addon company, it is important for us to recognize the top 10 events in Flight Simulation over the last decade.

1. Microsoft's ACES studio releases Flight Simulator X. This new version of FS and its expansion pack called Acceleration bring several new aircraft to the game and amazing graphics that make the game look extremely realistic to bring it light years ahead of its predecessors.

2. The Lotus Simulations L-39 Albatros is released for Flight Simulator X. It immediately becomes one of the best selling aircraft in the world of flight simulation. The aircraft brings an extremely detailed and frame friendly model together with special effects and new realistic lighting to make the ultimate addon.

3. Microsoft closes the ACES studio that produces Flight Simulator. This crushed the hopes of the FS community looking forward to FS11.

4. Cody Bergland uses his amazing talents and popular YouTube channel, Valkyrie321, to open the largest company advertising FS addons called Jaggyroad Films.

5. Of course the reason this blog is here, EFS Films opens its doors to FS addon companies, virtual airlines, and virtual militaries to help promote them. EFS Films quickly establishes itself as an important aspect of the FS marketing community.

6. ORBX releases their Full Terrain Experience for all of Australia. As a proud owner of the scenery I am continually amazed at the detail. I continue to see this addon make Flight Simulator X look real. ORBX is in my opinion one of the most innovative addons for the FS series.

7. Ramasurinen makes his amazing video called "Vectors." This video quickly gains popularity and quickly makes his channel the most popular channel for artistic FS videos until Jaggyroad Films picks up.

8. David Brice and his company, Iris Simulations, becomes one of the most popular addon companies. Their addons continue to be extremely high quality without sacrificing frames. Everything from the models to the flight dynamics has extreme research into it so the aircraft can represent their real world counterparts.

9. The Cessna154 YouTube channel becomes the largest channel devoted to Flight Simulator with more than 11,500 subscribers to date.

10. And since we need to continue to keep #10 as an epic fail, we have chosen the Lionheart Creations Kodiak as the FS epic fail of the decade. After this amazing aircraft was released another company made a claim to a part of their 2D panel and every single video was taken down from YouTube. Videos by both EFS Films and Jaggyroad Films that had tons of hours of work were taken down from YouTube without any real reason. There is no link for this since the product and all videos were taken offline. I think though that most people can see where that is ridiculous.
